Spinning Deca-Petal Flower Tile

The Spinning Deca-Petal Flower Tile can be used in many ways. Make 25 for a nice size blanket or just one as a pillow cover. Either way you can have lots of fun mixing up the colors and create a one of a kind design. 

YARN (can also be worked in WW- check gauge)
Light (#3) yarn- Bernat Cotton-ish
Color A- Spinning Jenny
Color B- Cotton Ball
Color C- Grey T-Shirt
Color D- Gun Powder

MATERIALS
Hook 4.00mm- G
Yarn Needle
Scissors

GAUGE
19 Hdc x 15 Rows = 4” square

STITCH GUIDE
ch(s) - chain(s), sc - single crochet, hdc- half double crochet, dc - double crochet, tr - treble crochet, st(s) - stitch(es), slst - slip stitch, sp(s) - space (s), sk - skip, BLO - back loop only,  Yo - yarn over

SPECIAL STITCHES 
sc3tog- Insert into next st in row, Yo hook and draw yarn through st, Take tip of hook insert into next st in row, Yo and draw through stitch, take tip of hook insert into next st in row, Yo and draw through once more (4sts on hook), Yo once more and draw through all 4 sts on hook.

NOTES

I worked each color for 2 petal rounds for a total of 8 petal rounds. Fasten off before each color change. I stitch over the ends to hide.

PATTERN 
Rnd 1: Color A, starting with a magic circle, ch1, 20 sc into circle. Join (20sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same, *ch 3, sk 1 st, sc in next; rep 8 more times around. ch 3, slst in first sc to join. (10 petals)

Rnd 3:  *(Sc, hdc, dc hdc, sc) in ch-3 sp, sl st in sc; repeat from * around, join with slst to slst (10 petals)

Rnd 4: Sc around back side of first post (see photo 2) ch 4, *dc around next post, ch 3; repeat from * 8 more times, ch 3, slst to first sc to join. (10 ch3 sps)  (see photo 3) 

Rnd 5: *(Sc, hdc, 2dc hdc, sc) in ch-3 sp, slst in dc; repeat from * around, join with slst to sc of prior row. (10 petals) 

Rnd 6: Change to color B, Sc around back side of first post ch 6 , *dc around next post, ch 5; repeat from * 8 more times, ch 5, slst to first sc to join. (10 ch3 sps) 

Rnd 7: *(Sc, hdc, 3dc hdc, sc) in ch-3 sp, slst in dc; repeat from * around, join with slst  to sc of prior row. (10 petals)

Rnd 8: Sc around back side of first post ch 7, *dc around next post, ch 6; repeat from * 8 more times, ch 6, slst to first sc to join. (10 ch3 sps) 

Rnd 9: *(Sc, 2hdc, 3dc 2hdc, sc) in ch-3 sp, slst in dc; repeat from * around, join with slst to sc of prior row. (10 petals)

Rnd 10: Change to color C, sc around back side of first post ch 8, *dc around next post, ch 7; repeat from * 8 more times, ch 7, slst to first sc to join. (10 ch3 sps) 

Rnd 11: *(2Sc, 2hdc, 3dc, 2hdc, 2sc) in ch-3 sp, slst in dc; repeat from * around, join with slst to sc of prior row. (10 petals)

Rnd 12: Sc around back side of first post ch 9, *dc around next post, ch 8; repeat from * 8 more times, ch 8, slst to first sc to join. (10 ch3 sps) 

Rnd 13: *(2Sc, 2hdc, 3dc, 2hdc, 2sc) in ch-3 sp, slst in dc; repeat from * around, join with slst to sc of prior row.  (10 petals)

Rnd 14: Change to color D, sc around back side of first post ch 10 , *dc around next post, ch 9; repeat from * 8 more times, ch 9, slst to first sc to join. (10 ch3 sps) 

Rnd 15: *(2sc, 2hdc, 2dc, tr, 2dc, 2hdc, 2sc) in ch-3 sp, slst in dc; repeat from * around, join with slst to sc of prior row.  (10 petals)

Rnd 16: Sc around back side of first post ch 11, *dc around next post, ch 10; repeat from * 8 more times, ch 10, slst to first sc to join. (10 ch3 sps) 

Rnd 17: *(2Sc, 3hdc, 2dc, tr, 2dc, 3hdc, 2sc) in ch-3 sp, slst in dc; repeat from * around, join with slst  to sc of prior row. (10 petals)  

Rnd 18: Join color A, (work in BLO) sc in same and next 5 sts, 2sc in tr, sc in next 6, sc2tog over next 2 sc (sk slst in middle), *sc in next 6, 2sc in tr, sc in next 6, sc2tog over next 2sc (sk slst in middle); repeat from * around, join with sl st to next sc. (150 sc) Fasten off.

You will now be working on the rectangular tile around the flower. 

Rnd 19: Join color D to any sc2tog st (see Photo 4), work sc in BLO, ch 1, sc in same, sc in next 7, ch 2, sc in next 8, ch 9, (going behind petal) sc in bottom on v (see photo 4), ch 9, sc in next bottom of v and next 7 sts, ch 2, sc in next 8, ch 9, sc in next bottom of v and next 7 sts, ch 2, sc in next 8, ch 9, sc in bottom on v, ch 9, sc in next bottom of v and next 7 sts, ch 2, sc in next 8, ch 9, slst to first sc to join. (66 sc)

Rnd 20: Ch 2 (counts as dc), dc in the next 7, [dc, ch 2, dc] in ch sp, dc in next 8, 9dc in ch sp, dc in bottom v st, 9dc in ch sp, dc in next 8, [dc, ch 2, dc] in ch sp, dc in next 8, 9dc in ch sp,  dc in next 8,   [dc, ch 2, dc] in ch sp, dc in next 8, 9dc in ch sp, dc in bottom v st, 9dc in ch sp, dc in next 8, [dc, ch 2, dc] in ch sp, dc in next 8, 9dc in ch sp, sl st to first sc. (128 dc)

On this round you will be tacking down the rest of the petals to the tile.

Rnd 21: Change to color C, (work in BLO), ch 2 (counts as dc), dc in next 8,  [dc, ch 2, dc] in ch sp, dc in next 13, work BLO of top st on petal into dc (see photo 5), dc in next 9, work BLO of top st on petal into next dc, dc in next 13,  [dc, ch 2, dc] in ch sp, dc in next 13, work BLO of top st on petal into dc, dc in next 13, [dc, ch 2, dc] in ch sp,  in ch sp, dc in next 13, work BLO of top st on petal into dc, dc in next 9, work BLO of top st on petal into dc, dc in next 13,  [dc, ch 2, dc] in ch sp, dc in next 13, work BLO of top st on petal into dc, dc in next 4, sl st to first dc to join. (136 dc)

Rnd 22: Change to color B, (work in BLO), ch 2 (counts as dc), dc in next 9,  [dc, ch 2, dc] in ch sp, dc in next 39, [dc, ch 2, dc] in ch sp, dc in next 29, [dc, ch 2, dc] in ch sp, dc in next 39, [dc, ch 2, dc] in ch sp, dc in next 19, sl st to join.  (144 dc)
Rnd 23: Change to color A, (work in BLO), ch 1, sc around, putting 3sc in each corner ch 2 sp, sl st to join. fasten off.  (156 sc)

The Peekaboo Picot collection was inspired by living in a warm weather climate. It uses a Super Fine #1 yarn however it can easily be adjusted for a worsted weight #4 for those that live in cooler climates. Everyday Dish Cloth Crochet Pattern
